Brisbane residents and businesses have continued to clean up after Thursday afternoon's devastating storms, which left a repair bill that has already exceeded $100 million.

Over 20,000 homes are still without power as Energex crews work around the clock to repair damage to the network.

Several buildings around in the CBD had windows smashed as hailstones, some the size of cricket balls struck, resulting in some footpaths to be closed as a precaution to protect pedestrians from falling debris and glass.

Council workers were out in force cleaning up extensive damage.

Large numbers of residences were damaged, including lost roofing.

Large numbers of cars were hail damaged, including smashed windows.

Seven aircraft at Archerfield Airport were overturned.

Insurance companies have asked customers to be patient as they progress through large volumes of calls, and ask for understanding that inspections and repairs will be prioritised so those most severely affected can receive the most urgent assistance.
